FRENEMIES
The Creative Comradery of Cleveland and Pittsburgh
Opening Friday December 4th
7p.m. – 10p.m.
Trans-City Sing-Along: 9:30pm
FRENEMIES is a group exhibition featuring artists who are either from, reside in, or have ties to Cleveland and/or Pittsburgh. The title, a portmanteau of “friend” and “enemy,” eludes
simultaneously to the age-old rivalry between these two cities (most often associated with
football) and to the striking similarities between them. By bringing together artists who
share common sensibilities, from playful and humorous to absurd and bizarre, we hope to
highlight the shared experience and inspire creative comradery and collaboration between
the two cities.
As part of the show Ben Kinsley and M. Callen will host a Trans-City Sing-Along via
webcast between Front Room Gallery and Waffle Shop (Pittsburgh’s premiere late-night
waffle emporium and TV talk show) at 9:30PM opening night. Come early for the art, enjoy
the libations, and stick around for what will surely prove to be a memorable event.
